Pom Tryouts

Click here to download the Spirit Group Application Form and here to download the Medical Release Form which can be filled out and signed in advance.  Bring BOTH forms with you to tryouts!  Extra forms will be available at tryouts if you are not able to fill them out in advance. 

Friday, April 23 | 4 - 9 p.m.
Saturday, April 24 | 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Sunday, April 25 | noon - 5 p.m.

All tryout days are held in Gallagher-Iba Auxillary Gym.
All tryout days are CLOSED to the public.

CLINIC DAY ONE: Girls will learn parts of the tryout dance which will include jazz, funk & hip-hop dance styles and will incorporate at least the following skills: kick, toe touch, leap, right triple piourette and fouette turn sequence.

CLINIC DAY TWO: Girls will be judged on the tryout dance, physical fitness/appearance. (see below for required attire). After lunch, the finalists will be announced. Only the finalists will stay and learn the rest of the tryout dance and Fight Song.

TRYOUT FINALS DAY THREE:

NOTE: The judges will determine the contestants for the Final section.

Finalists will be judged on the entire Tryout Dance and the entire Fight Song and crowd appeal. (see left column for required attire).

1. Approximately 14 candidates are chosen for the Pom squad.
2. No alternates are chosen.
3. Judges decisions are the only criteria for this tryout and are final.
4. If fewer than the indicated number of candidates are of the caliber to make the squad, only suitable candidates will be chosen and additional candidates will be sought through a tryout at a future date.

There is a $15.00 registration fee for tryout participants.

All participants must have proof of acceptance to OSU.

All participants must show proof of current insurance.

All participants under 18 must have a parent present to sign a medical release form which is handed out at the tryout clinic.

GIRLS MUST WEAR BLACK BRIEFS AND A SPORTS BRA / TOP (any color) FOR TRYOUTS.

Abdominals and waist cannot be covered.

TRYOUTS are generally held the 2nd or 3rd weekend in April. Dates will be posted on osuspirit.com
